Frequently Asked Questions
Whilst we always encourage fun, learning, accessibility and acceptance, it’s also important that we all understand how we can all do our part to provide a friendly and safe environment for all children.
We’ve put together a list of FAQs to help set your expectations and answer any queries before you book. Please do read through the answers so that you and your little ones remain safe and happy.
If you can’t see the answer to your question, please do get in touch.
Do I need to book before visiting?
We strongly recommend pre-booking to ensure we have capacity, we limit numbers so there is ample space for everybody to explore the town. If you are making a last minute visit please check our availability beforehand on our booking system to ensure we are not reserved for an exclusive use session.
What if I have booked a session and now can’t attend?
In line with our terms and conditions, all tickets are non refundable. If you are unable to attend your pre booked session your ticket can be transferred to another session if 24 hours notice is given. Please email your request to hello@curiouskidstown.co.uk By giving as much notice as possible enables us to try and resell your spaces.
Do you have an upper age limit?
You are never too old to play! We will never restrict a child from using their imagination and whilst ever your children enjoy being Doctor, Vet or Construction Worker, they are welcome at Curious Kids Town.
Our town can be explored by toddling children through to older primary school age children and of course their accompanying adults who still love to play! We are not soft play, so when their imaginations no longer run wild, a soft play or park may be a better choice for their feet to run wild instead.
What do you offer for babies?
We have a dedicated Little Explorer Montessori-based area for babies under 12 months to explore whilst they are too young to tackle the more serious roles of animal health, fire fighting and emergency medics!
Can we arrive early?
We lock the door between each session so that we can tidy and re-set the town ready for the next cohort of Curious Kids to play.
Can we arrive after our session starts?
Of course, you can arrive anytime during your session but the session will end for everybody at the designated time and we cannot extend your session.
Do we need to wear socks?
Yes please! Socks are more hygienic when we consider our little visitors that are not yet walking. If you prefer, bring your slippers, which we would recommend for the colder months to ensure toasty little toes.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Sorry no. We all have to be mindful of those children managing food allergies. We offer a simple menu for you and your little ones to enjoy. We are a small two-family business and every penny you spend here helps us keep our little town running for the future generations of imagination inspired tots.
Can we stay afterwards?
Sorry, no. Unlike other soft play type centres, we use every minute between each session to tidy and re-set the play town ready for our next group of children.
Do we have to tidy up at the end of the session?
Curious Kids is all about role play. Children taking part in regular everyday activities such as tidying up teaches them everyday life and the importance of taking care of their environment and other’s people’s belongings. We play a short tidy up song at tidy up time which many children thoroughly enjoy rather than it being a chore. Top tip; the song is said to even work its magic for tidy up time at home!
Visitors with additional needs?
All children deserve to play! We welcome visitors, big and small with additional needs. Curious Kids Town has been designed to be fully accessible. We also offer designated sessions for immunosuppressed children that cannot attend a regular session. Please contact us to discuss your needs and we will always try to accommodate you.
Do we have to play with our children?
If the children are safe, sharing and playing nicely, you are then free to relax. Play is very important for their growth and we encourage you to take this time to have a coffee. Equally children love a co-exploring adult to enter their world of imaginary play. At the very least please take notice of their play and don’t simply become engrossed in your phones. It is a privilege to be invited into their world of play and it will be over before you know it.
Do you have WiFi?
We don’t! Our sessions are time limited and we encourage you to connect with your children and not the internet whilst you are with us.
Can I take photographs?
Please do, these memories are precious but please be mindful to capture only images of your own child. Please also tag us in then we can re-share on our socials.
Is car parking available?
We have a car park available for your use. On busier weekday/wet sessions this may be full but there is parking on also Lumley street or Effingham Road both a very short walk away. We have more allocated parking on site on weekends and bank holidays when other businesses in our yard are closed.
Can we get to you using public transport?
Yes. We are only a twenty minute walk from Sheffield Train Station and less than ten minutes from our nearest tram stop at Hyde Park. An alternative pedestrian route, can be taken on the canal path from Victoria Quays.
